Sophie Mendelson

Sophie Mendelson was a longtime student of KAC and has been a teacher for our summer camp programs for many years. She has a Bachelor’s of Studio Art from Skidmore College, with a concentration in painting, sculpture, and textiles, and a Master’s of Art Education from Teachers College Columbia University. She has taught students of all ages and abilities in school and through extra-curricular programs, and has three years of experience working with K-12 special education students in New York City. Sophie values individualized artistic instruction to meet the needs of each student. Her teaching practice emphasizes building foundational skills while also helping students expand their creativity and develop their own unique artistic voice. Sophie’s personal practice includes oil portraiture, community murals, watercolors, fiber arts, and a variety of other craft and fine arts mediums.
