Sheryl Levine

Sheryl Levine taught Art at Brewster High School before retiring this past June after 13 years of service. Teaching art was her second career following careers in Advertising and as a Fine Artist. Trained as a figurative artist, Sheryl exhibited many of her sculptures in shows in Manhattan, Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York, and in Southern Florida.

While studying for her Master’s Degree for Art Education at Manhattanville College, Sheryl was introduced to the element of collage which she began to incorporate into her artwork. Through experimentation and discovery, her work evolved into mixed media, with a fusion of academic drawing and variety of media, including collage, hand-stitched fabric, assemblage and encaustic.

Sheryl is the owner/designer of Orchid Art & Jewelry Design and attends Craft Fairs throughout New York.

My artwork is a fusion of traditional media and experimental mixed media. My recent work incorporates collage with fiber, hand painted fabric, printmaking, photography and hand stitching. This has become a narrative of my life’s journey as a young figurative artist who now embraces experimentation and the joy of the creative process. My color palette is inspired by the colors of nature, with contrast created by the juxtaposition of texture and media.
