Laura Gould
I traveled for most of my life. My mother took me to many beautiful gardens and countless art museums. She had studied botany and was always pointing out wild flowers as we sped down the highways. Among my favorite and most powerful memories are the gardens of Japan. The influence of these spiritual spaces continue to infuse my art and my life.
I studied at The School of Visual Arts and a small college in the mid west and then lived in NYC for many years doing freelance illustration and graphic design.
Today I enjoy teaching botanical drawing in graphite, color pencil and watercolor. I have my Botanical Art Certification in Botanical Art and have enjoyed teaching a workshop at the New York Botanical Gardens, and classes at Ward Pound Ridge Reserve and Lasdon Arboretum.
I spend my days teaching or in my studio and not a day goes by without walking my loved dogs over the hills of Westchester.
